How does MicroBiome-18 work?
MicroBiome-18 works by supplying 18 selected probiotic organisms that can temporarily interact with the existing intestinal microbial environment.
It combines a broad 17-organism probiotic complex with DE111® Bacillus subtilis, a spore-forming organism selected for stability during passage through the stomach.
MicroBiome-18 Uses a Two-Part Formula
Each capsule provides 15 billion colony-forming units through two complementary components:
- Live-Source Probiotic Complex: 200 mg supplying 10 billion CFUs from 17 organisms
- DE111® Bacillus subtilis: 21 mg supplying 5 billion CFUs
The first component supplies microbial variety through Lactobacillus-related organisms, Bifidobacterium organisms, and supporting culture organisms. The second provides a spore-forming probiotic with a different stability profile.
What Happens After You Take a Probiotic?
A probiotic capsule travels through the upper digestive tract before reaching the intestines. During that journey, its organisms encounter stomach acid, digestive secretions, bile, food components, and the resident microbial community.
Many supplemental probiotic organisms do not permanently establish themselves in the intestines. Instead, they may remain active temporarily while passing through the digestive tract.
During that period, they may:
- Interact with existing intestinal microorganisms
- Use available dietary substrates
- Produce organic acids or other metabolic compounds
- Help support the local intestinal environment
- Interact with the intestinal surface and normal immune processes
This is different from saying that one bottle permanently replaces or rebuilds the microbiome.
Why the Spore-Forming Organism Matters
DE111® Bacillus subtilis can form a protective spore. This structure helps the organism tolerate environmental conditions that may be difficult for some non-spore-forming probiotics.
The intended sequence is that the organism remains protected during stomach transit, reaches the gastrointestinal tract, and then becomes metabolically active under suitable conditions. It may later return to a spore state.
This spore-forming behavior complements the other organisms in MicroBiome-18 rather than making them unnecessary.
MicroBiome-18 Does Not Digest Food Directly
MicroBiome-18 is not a digestive enzyme. Enzymes act directly on proteins, fats, and carbohydrates to break them into smaller components. A probiotic instead works within the intestinal ecosystem.
| Supplement type | Primary role |
|---|---|
| Digestive enzyme | Acts directly on food molecules |
| HCl support | Supports the stomach’s acidic environment |
| Probiotic | Supports the intestinal microbial environment |
| Fiber | Provides fermentable material and supports stool formation |
Practical Takeaway
MicroBiome-18 works through microbial support, not by forcing a bowel movement or directly breaking down a meal. Its broad probiotic complex and spore-forming component are intended to support the intestinal ecosystem during regular use.
Its usefulness still depends on the person’s diet, digestive function, medication history, routine, and underlying health. Persistent symptoms should be evaluated rather than automatically attributed to the microbiome.
