Sleep Program
Are you tired and having trouble sleeping?
Sleep is essential for good health, adequate energy and DNA repair. Sleeping at least 5-1/2 hours without getting up (or lifting your head more than a foot) is necessary for healthy adrenal glands. Any less breaks the cycle of adrenaline production and can lead to chronic fatigue.
If you are not sleeping through the night, there are a number of possible causes. Of course, sometimes it’s more than one cause. Here are the primary ones I find (note: the products suggested can be found at the bottom of the page):
- Weak gallbladder – this can also make falling asleep difficult as the gallbladder is attempting to process fats. Use our Gallbladder-ND and also see our Liver/Gallbladder Cleanse. I see this about 70% of the time when I test people.
- Deficiency of melatonin – Use our non-synthetic, live-source Melatonin-ND. I see this necessary about 20% of the time. Melatonin can also help with detoxing recreational mind drugs.
- Neurotransmitters have gotten scrambled (often from sleep and depression medications). This tends to block REM sleep causing you to wake up tired. Use our Tranquinol for 2-3 months. I see this about 10% of the time. Tranquinol helps you get better REM sleep as well as relaxing you so you can fall asleep.
- Getting up to urinate – This is usually a bacterial infection in the bladder and is quite common. It usually takes 30-90 days to clear. Try our UriVen (formerly Bladder Complex) in combination with Allicidin. That usually helps. If not, you may need more Allicidin, also possibly Hyssinol. Call after 30 days and I’ll help you figure it out.
- Waking for no reason – this is usually due to inadequate digestion. The suggestions here are to use our HCL Detox Kit and Premier Digest. Also follow the meal suggestions below. If the problem persists, you may want to consult with us by phone. It could also relate to parasites or bacteria in the intestines or a hormonal imbalance.
- Awakening panicked – can be caused by adrenal exhaustion. To strengthen the adrenal glands, use AdrenaVen, Pink Salt and Max B-ND. Premier Magnesium can also help for a month or two by providing a calming effect.
Additional Information
Avoid drinking coffee or caffeine drinks (soft drinks) after 2 PM (best to avoid them completely).
Avoid difficult to digest foods, especially meat, dairy and nuts. Avoid food chemicals (MSG, aspartame, preservatives, etc.) that can stress the liver and cause sleep problems.
Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables. Exercise regularly. Avoid eating after 7 PM; eating within 2 to 3 hours of bedtime can strain your digestion and affect sound sleep. Avoid drinking fluids right before bed. Get 20 to 40 minutes of sunlight outside daily (with nothing between the eye and daylight, such as contact lenses, sunglasses, etc.).
Inability to sleep well can also be due to these factors:
- Dietary imbalances: eating too late before going to bed, especially hard to digest foods; drinking too much fluid before bed; allergies or reactions to certain foods, drinking stimulants after 2 PM such as coffee or caffeine-containing soft drinks, etc.; reactions to food chemicals such as “natural flavors” (MSG), aspartame, etc.
- Dietary deficiencies: low pH (due to poor mineral status), inadequate vitamins, antioxidants, essential fatty acids (see our Daily Program and Alkaline pH page).
- Certain medications can interfere with normal sleep patterns, especially sleep or depression medications.
- Poor sleeping area (too hard or soft bed, synthetic bedding materials, noisy area, too much light in the room, leaving radio or TV on, high electromagnetic fields – see our EMF Protection).
- Insufficient daily sunlight exposure (to stimulate pituitary gland).
- Internal infections (esp. parasitic) can often become active at night (creating restlessness and loss of sleep).
- Pain: pain anywhere in the body can worsen rest and sleep. Inflammacidin and Liver-ND can help. Call us so we can help figure out and address the underlying causes.
- Toxicity, especially heavy metals from dental work, can create an acidic pH and poor ability to rest or sleep. Liver/gallbladder detox programs are often recommended.
- Adrenal stress can result in poor sleep ability.
General types of insomnia: Difficulty falling asleep, difficulty staying asleep, difficulty sleeping at least 5 hours continuously, waking up frequently at night or a combination of these factors.
Note: In Oriental medicine, the liver and gallbladder are key meridians which influence the head area. Toxicity in either energetic pathway can result in sleep problems.
